A Focus on Lifelong Learning

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." - Nelson Mandela

Middle Park Conservation District (MPCD) takes this quote to heart by dedicating resources to the education of all ages and life stages.

Starting at the ripe age of 5 years old, MPCD introduces youth to natural resources conservation via summer day camps.  In 2026, we taught Fraser Valley youth about honeybees, beekeeping, and the importance of pollinators to our survival.

Moving into Middle School, MPCD teaches 6th graders about water use, water conservation, and the real-life challenge of allocating limited water resources to multiple (sometimes conflicting) water interests.

Then, as recent graduates transition from high school to college, MPCD provides scholarships to individuals pursuing higher education in the fields of conservation, natural resources, and agriculture.

Finally, with the awareness that lifelong learning never ends, MPCD offers a variety of educational opportunities to our adult residents. For the first time ever, in the summer of 2026, MPCD hosted a five-part webinar series on noxious weeds, drought, and wildfire mitigation. Recordings of these webinars can be found here.
