GCWIN Celebrates Educational Programs
Grand County Water Information Network (GCWIN) has just completed another successful year of educational field trips for local students in 2nd, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.
By offering this environmental education day to local school children, GCWIN and its partners help build the students' appreciation for the land, plants, and wildlife in Grand County. This encourages students to become better stewards of public and private lands in the future. Overall, students build their confidence in enjoying outdoor experiences by advancing their knowledge and understanding of the world around them.

6th Grade Water Warriors
MPCD also hosted a two-day Water Warriors activity for the East Grand 6th graders.
During this activity, students first learned about four different categories of water users: Municipal, Business/Industry, Agricultural, and Recreation/Environment. Representatives from the Town of Granby, Denver Water, Grand County Water Information Network, and Middle Park Conservation District spoke to the students about ways they use water and how water can be conserved in their sector.
On the following day, teams of students were tasked with dividing 100% of the water in the year 2050 between the four categories of water users. Not only did all team members have to agree on the allocated percentages, they also had to justify why they gave more or less water to the different water users.
This activity is a great way to simulate the real world court cases occurring every day between different water users in the western US.
