NRCS/MPCD Conservation Technical Assistance

A map is being shown with marked fields; the text reads "Conservation Technical Assistance."
As the federal shutdown approaches its third week, the NRCS/MPCD office in Kremmling remains shut for now.  10/18/25

Though Middle Park Conservation District is not a federal agency, our office is located in a building leased by a federal agency.  Thus, we are not allowed to use the building at this time.  Furthermore, our District Conservation Technician, Mark Volt, works under a federally-funded grant provided by NRCS.  Thus, he is not allowed to work while the shutdown looms.

Nevertheless, Katlin is still working from home and is happy to help folks with seed sales (in Granby, Kremmling, and Frisco) and with conservation education questions.

Conservation Technical Assistance

Once the shutdown ends, Mark will be back in the office two days a week ready to help landowners.  As an MPCD employee working with NRCS in the Kremmling Field Office, Mark spends much of his time helping landowners with Conservation Technical Assistance.

Conservation Technical Assistance (CTA) provides our nation’s farmers, ranchers and forestland owners with the knowledge and tools they need to conserve, maintain and restore the natural resources on their lands and improve the health of their operations for the future.

NRCS offers this assistance at no cost to the producers we serve. The goal is to give our customers personalized advice and information, based on the latest science and research, to help them make informed decisions.

If a producer chooses to take the next step towards improving their operations, Mark can work with them to develop a conservation plan, with suggested conservation practices that can help them reach their production and conservation goals.

Producers can also choose to apply for financial assistance (such as EQIP and CSP) to get help install the conservation practices outlined in their conservation plan.

Mark typically works Tuesdays and Thursdays, though he is often in the field.  Please call 970-724-3456, ext 3, to schedule an appointment or email Mark.Volt@co.nacdnet.net.  (Note: Mark will not respond while the shutdown remains active.)
